Art Impressions - Cash Keeper

The older I get the more I appreciate the images and sentiments from Art Impressions.  They have some wonderful Golden Oldies characters !

I stamped this image with Momento black ink on Copic friendly paper which I purchased from 7 Kids College Fund.  The Copics used were :

Blue   B23, B21
Yellows   Y35, Y23, Y21
Reds  R39, R37, R35
Skin  E21, E00, E000
Hair  C0

The earrings were coloured in with Smooch Pool and on the cheeks I used Pebbles Ikan'dee chalks.  The sentiment is from the same set and it was die cut with MFT Sweet Stack Labels.  The whole image was die cut with Spellbinders Deckle Edge Rectangles and, most important, put on rises to attach to the next layer of paper.  Not sure if it is the South African money that is larger but I struggled to get the image to lay flat after tucking the money into the slit I cut around the hand then had a brainwave to put it on rises which solved the problem.

Tag - Hero Arts With Sympathy

I do not believe I have made a sympathy tag before.  I thought it could be attached to flowers, a gift of food or even a box of thank you cards.

The orange strip in the middle was made using a Dreamweaver Fibreglass screen, a stencil brush and Distress inks Spiced Marmalade and Rusty Hinge.  The image is from the Hero Arts set With Sympathy as is the sentiment.  Both were stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Sizzix / Tim Holtz Pillow Box w/labels

I have another pillow box die which has never really worked and when I saw this Tim Holtz / Sizzix Pillow Box w/labels was a little larger I thought it might be time to get a replacement.  It works beautifully and I think it is one I will get a lot of use out of.

The paper is My Mind's Eye - All is Bright and the stamp is Whiff of Joy - Henry Heart which was coloured in with markers and a blender pen.  The small heart has Stickles Xmas Red on it.  The grass is a MFT die - Fresh Cut Grass, the large heart is Nellie's Choice Frame die Multi Heart and the small heart is a Stampin Up punch Full Heart.  The sentiment is from the Hero Art set Say it All.

Peachy Keen - PKSC 04 April 2012

I wanted to try out a new technique I had seen - dust chalk over a dark piece of card stock and stamp an image over it using Perfect Medium.  Well, that did not turn out so good for me so I decided to use the black card stock for another project !

The blue scalloped design either side of the black card is left overs I found, the green patterned paper is from a DCWV Stack 7 pad and it was die cut using my latest favourite die, the Quikutz Pocket.  The darling cupcake is from the Peachy Keen set PKSC 04 April 2012, as is the face.  I stamped out the bottom of the cupcake onto patterned paper and decorated the top with Pebbles Inc Ikan'dee Pearlescent chalks.  The sentiment is from a Hero Arts set called Hugs.

QuicKutz - Pocket

I was recently excited to get my first QuicKutz die - Pocket.  The die is cut from a beige piece of cardstock and coloured with Distress inks Antique Linen and Gathered Twigs.

The tag is stamped wuth background image Hero Arts Old Writing Flower Collage in Archival Sepia.  The sentiment on the tag is Tim Holtz Nature's Discovery in Archival Coffee ink - distressed inked with Antique Linen and Gathered Twigs.

The background is Creative Expressions Brick embossing folder highlighted with Momento Nautical Blue ink topped with Peachy Keen Happy Bird die.  Not sure where I got the sentiment from but the labels are part of the Pocket die.

Peachy Keen - PKSC-04 April 2012

There are times when I enjoy making a simple, uncomplicated card like this one.  This Peachy Keen set has loads of images and matching sentiments making it easy to match them up.

The background paper is from a large 12 x 12 pad called Alison by Me & My Big Ideas.  The clock was coloured in using a Melon Spica pen, a Stampin Up marker, Brocade Blue, and the same colour SU crayon with a blender pen for the clock surrounds.   The circles are Spellbinders large and small trimmed off at one side.

The sentiment which is from the same set was die cut with Hero Arts Small Tag Frames.

Stationery Holder

The finished product - a notepad, post-it note and bookmark gift set
The size of the holder is 228mm x 150mm, scored at 60mm / 85mm / 145mm and 170mm.  The corner rounder used is from Creative Memories.  Yellow cardstock is Stampin Up Barely Banana, the patterned paper is Creative Memories Shades of Orange with the orange cardstock being Stampin Up Pumpkin Pie.  The tab on the right hand side is a Stampin Up Round Tab punch.
The post-it note pouches on the left hand side are 58mm x 66mm.  You would need to check the size of the post-it notes for the scoring.  The trim added was from scraps I had and the flourish stamp was off of an un named Inkadinkado set.  As the holders had no sides I made 4 holes (2 front, 2 back) with a paper piercer and threaded some embroidery cotton through the front hole, then the same side back hole, along the back to the next side and out the front, knotting both sides.

The notepad holder in the middle is a MFT Die-namics die Gift Card Pocket.  Instead of taping it flat I added a couple of pieces either side to make it into a box.  The owl on the front is from the Stampin Up set called First Friends stamped with Archival Coffee ink.  The small dots around the owl are from the Flourishes set Medallion Motif which was die cut with Spellbinders Circles small and large.

The bookmark pocket on the right hand side is a Memory Box die called Library Pocket.  Again I altered the die by trimming off one side so as to be able to slide the bookmark in.
Below is the outside of the holder.  The image is from Whimsy - Owl shaded with SU Close to Cocoa crayon and a blender pen.  The die it is framed in is MFT Peek-a-Boo Trio.  The 2 mesh like areas on either side of the holder were made using a Dreamweavers stencil brush, Distress Ink Spiced Marmalade with a Dreamweavers Fibreglass screen.  The is a quick and easy technique and I like the look it gives.  Think I will be using this a lot in future as I like to make my own backgrounds.
Bookmark - MFT Bookmark Duo and stamps on SU Pumpkin Pie. Background on the bookmark is a Hero Arts stamp - Old Letter Writing.  The edges of the cardstock are Distress inked with Rusty Hinge and the patterned Creative Memories paper, Shades of Orange, is done with Spiced Marmalade.

Art Impressions - Buzzard

This set from Art Impressions appealed to my sense of humour.  The image was stamped with Momento ink onto cardstock suitable for Copics and die cut using Sizzix Ovals.

Yellow breast - Y35 / Y23 / Y21

Body - N8 / N6 / N4
Branch - E57 / E55

The yellow background paper is a scrap piece, the orange is from Creative Memories Shades of Orange.  The yellow zig zag pattern is from Doodlebug Paper Frills.  The sentiment is from the same Art Impressions Buzzard set and it is die cut with Hero Art Small Tag Frame.

Art Impressions - Chatting Whoots

The owls on this card were coloured in bad light at night and I did not intend them to be this colour.  Rather than change or scrap the owls I decided to take artistic licence with them !

The background paper is from my stash, the die cut is Spellbinders Labels 21 and the branch the owls are resting on is from Go Create - Owlets die.  The Art Impressions Chatting Whoots image was coloured in with aqua pencil crayons and a blender pen.  The sentiment is from the same set and it was stamped with Archival Coffee ink.  It was die cut with Hero Arts Small Tag Frame and edged with Distress inks Antique Linen and Brushed Corduroy.

Milton & Co - Milton with Card

I seldom use my stash of Stampin Up cardstock but had this Pumpkin Pie piece out the other day.  I wanted to use the Penny Black Dimond Pattern (no, I did not spell Dimond wrong - this is how is it on the packet) and thought I would try it out on this.  Then I added a yellow piece of paper, then a black piece and finally a zig zag strip of yellow fom Doodlebug Design.

The sentiment is also Penny Black from the set To You and I thought I would leave it at that until I saw the Milton & Co - Milton with Card stamp.  I used SU aqua crayons and a blender pen to colour him in.

Embossing Dies - swatches

I recently came across this idea on Pinterest and thought I really needed to sort my embossing folders out.  Well, I set out to die cut a whole lot of labels from Tim Holtz Tag & Tie die and thought I would need a couple of hours to get the swatches finished.

What I did not count on was the amount of embossing folders I have. My word, I have more than is shown above and think my new year's resolutions should be to use them more often and not buy any more !!

The card stock I used is rather thick and came from a stationery store where we buy the off cuts of invitations.  They are dirt cheap and were ideal for this sort of project.  I did feel the tag die was not 100% suitable with square edges so I used my Zutter half inch corner chomper to round them off.  The rings were ones I had in my stash.

Art Impressions - Birthday Whoot Set

The package the Art Impressions stamps come in give you an idea of how the image can be coloured in.  This I like as it takes the pressure off of what colours to use - something I always spend too much time on.

The background paper is a Creative Memories scrap.  The sentiment and owl image are from the same Birthday Whoot set and I used a variety of markers to colour the owl in.

Peachy Keen - PKSC-06 June 2012

This might seem like an unusual get well card but my family would probably expect something like this from me.

The stamp set is from Peachy Keen - PKSC - 06 June 2012 and the cute bird, pot plant holder  and sentiments are all from this set.  They are coloured with aqua pencil crayons and a blender pen.  The grass is a tiny grass stamp from Art Impressions.  The plant is a Cottage Cutz die called Fern with the flowers being from an old Cuttlebug die with no name.  The embossing folder is Craft Concepts Leafy Flourish.  The border punch is Martha Stewart Pine Needles.

Just love the inside saying :
